On June 10, 2024, the Japanese Society for Rights of Authors, Composers and Publishers (JASRAC) distributed copyright royalties to rights holders including authors, composers, and music publishers for the 2024-06 period. The amount distributed for the relevant period was 33,090,462,018 JPY, which is 106.3% compared to the same period of the previous fiscal year and a record high for June distributions. (*1)
JASRAC distributes copyright royalties paid by music users to rights holders on a quarterly basis (March, June, September, and December). The 2024-06 distribution primarily reflects royalty income from October 2023 to March 2024. (*2)

With the market being active due to an increase in the number of concerts held, the distribution for "Performances, etc." was approximately 1.49 billion JPY (108.5% compared to the same period of the previous fiscal year). Additionally, as the number of performances of both domestic and overseas artists in domes and arenas increased, the distribution for "Major live concerts, etc." was approximately 1.21 billion JPY (154.9% compared to the same period of the previous fiscal year). |

The number of works subject to distribution was 2,518,532 works. Rights holders entitled to receive royalties, including distribution through music publishers, amount to 77,754 writers and 2,937 music publishers. Furthermore, royalties are distributed to 317,490 writers and 35,560 music publishers through 116 foreign sister societies.
JASRAC will continue to strive for the development of the music industry and music culture by returning to creators and rights holders the compensation they deserve.
*1 When royalties are wired to right holders, deductions will be made from this amount, including administrative expenses and income tax.
