About JASRACMessage from the President

For a world of ever-flowing music

Since its establishment, JASRAC has continued to protect the rights of music creators and has supported their journeys. We are entrusted with the administration of music copyrights from music creators, such as authors and composers, as well as from music publishers who promote the use of musical works. We grant licenses to those who use music in public performances, digital distribution, and many other forms, and distribute royalties paid by those users to the respective rights holders.

The royalties we collect each year has exceeded 150 billion Japanese yen, and there are approximately 700,000 music creators around the world who have received royalties through JASRAC, covering some 4 million works. With the recent expansion of music subscription and video streaming services, music creators are receiving more royalties from the digital realm.

With advancements in technology, anyone can now create and deliver music. The evolution of AI shows no signs of stopping. This is an era where the environment is changing rapidly for both rights holders and users of musical works.

Through its nearly 90-year history, JASRAC has maintained a balance between its stout business foundation and adaptability to change. We at JASRAC pledge to our members to uphold high levels of management discipline and transparency, while collecting royalties under favorable economic terms and ensuring precise and dependable distributions. For music users (licensees), we will enhance the outlook of music businesses through the consistent issuance of licenses.

In 1939, a group of creators, united by their passion for music, gathered to pave the way to carry music into the future. To elevate the value of creation and to realize a world full of music that people want to listen to. To cherish every single song, to support every single creator. "For a world of ever-flowing music," we will forge ahead with unwavering passion we have held since our establishment.

Your continued support is greatly appreciated.
