Distribution Results for 2020-09 Period
Amount Distributed was 29.5 Billion JPY, 103.0% Compared to 2019-09 Period

On September 11, 2020, JASRAC distributed copyright royalties to rights holders including authors, composers and music publishers.

The amount distributed for 2020-09 period was 29,503,549,879 JPY, which is 103.0% compared to the same period in the previous year. (Administrative expenses, income tax etc. are deducted) JASRAC also decided to bring forward the schedule for distributing royalties to rights holders. (Please refer to article Regarding the Distribution Schedule of Royalties)

This distribution primarily reflects royalty income in the first half of 2020 (January 2020 to June 2020). The distribution results of the following fields of use are affected due to the spread of COVID-19.

<Interactive transmissions>
The distribution was 183.8% compared to the previous fiscal year due to the continuous expansion of subscription service and online video service markets.

<Karaoke (Karaoke at places of entertainment)>
The distribution was 67.3% compared to the previous fiscal year due to a spate of business closures caused by the spread of Covid-19.

<Audio discs>
The distribution was 46.3% compared to the previous fiscal year due to the suspension and postponement of product sales caused by the spread of Covid-19.

Royalties were distributed to 2,156,466 works. The number of rights holders who received royalties, including distribution through music publishers, was 67,790 writers and 2,718 music publishers. In addition, royalties were distributed to 298,334 writers and 37,630 music publishers through 120 foreign sister organizations.

JASRAC will continue to strive for the development of the music industry and music culture through the distribution of remuneration back to creators and rights holders.
