The Musical Works Information Management System "KENDRIX" has been Updated
- IPI Number Application is Now Available-

On July 9, 2024, the Japanese Society for Rights of Authors, Composers and Publishers (JASRAC) updated "KENDRIX," a musical works information management system which uses blockchain-based technology to provide proof of existence (PoE) and electronic identity verification (eKYC) functions.

KENDRIX Now Supports IPI Number Application

The new feature allows a music creator to obtain an IPI number through KENDRIX, even if the creator does not have an administration trust agreement with JASRAC.

*You'll automatically receive an IPI number when you sign the agreement with JASRAC.

An IPI (Interested Parties Information) Number is an international identification number assigned to copyright holders for identification purposes. It is issued when copyright management organizations from various countries register copyright holders in an international rights holder database called the IPI system.

Benefits of Obtaining an IPI Number for Music Creators:
To obtain an International Standard Musical Work Code (ISWC), which is an international identification number for musical works, IPI numbers are required for all writers of the musical work. By obtaining your IPI number in advance and providing it to domestic and international music publishers and co-writers, you can ensure that ISWCs are properly assigned, making it easier for your musical works to be identified within the international music copyright management network.

How to Use

After registering an account on KENDRIX and completing eKYC (electronic identity verification), your account type will be upgraded to "Business," enabling you to access the IPI number application feature.

*The following are the two ways to upgrade your account to "Business+":

(1) Enter into an administration trust contract with JASRAC through KENDRIX's function to apply online for the contract.

(2) Apply for "Upgrade to a JASRAC member" via KENDRIX.
