Distribution Results for 2026-03 Period and Fiscal 2025

The Japanese Society for Rights of Authors, Composers and Publishers (JASRAC) distributed copyright royalties to rights holders including creators and music publishers on March 9, 2026. The amount distributed in the 2026-03 period was 42,465,377,446 JPY (108.2% year-on-year growth for the relevant period), which is a record new high for March distributions (*1). It is the first time the amount distributed in a single distribution period exceeds 40 billion JPY.

As a result, the amount distributed during fiscal 2025 (the total amount for four quarters: June, September, December 2025, and March 2026) was finalized as 151,857,948,386 JPY (106.7% year-on-year growth), the highest amount distributed in a year. It is the first time the amount distributed exceeds 150 billion JPY. The amount mainly reflects income from collections in the second half of fiscal 2024 (October 2024 to March 2025) and the first half of 2025 (April 2025 to September 2025). (*2)

The number of works subject to distribution was 4,066,661. The number of rights holders subject to distribution, including distributions through music publishers, was 119,298 creators and 3,330 music publishers. Furthermore, royalties were also distributed to 568,990 creators and 64,267 music publishers through 121 foreign copyright management organizations.

Increase in the number of concerts resulted in approximately 6.79 billion JPY (up 5.9% from the previous fiscal year) distributed for live concerts, and approximately 6.94 billion JPY (up 39.1% from the previous year) distributed for major live concerts.
Foreign income (performances / reproduction) From an increase in mainly online royalties from the United States and Germany, foreign income (performances) was approximately 1.92 billion JPY (up 13.2% from the previous fiscal year), and foreign income (reproduction) was approximately 610 million JPY (up 47.5% from the  previous fiscal year).
Audio discs There were multiple hit products from mainly male idol groups and K-Pop artists, resulting in a distribution of approximately 7.76 billion JPY (up 11.8% from the previous fiscal year).
Interactive transmissions The market for video streaming and music subscription services continued to maintain strength, with a distribution of approximately 59.4 billion JPY (up 11.7% from the previous fiscal year).

JASRAC will continue making efforts to contribute to the development of the music industry and music culture by bringing returns to creators and rights holders.

(*1) Administrative expenses, income taxes, etc. are deducted from the above amounts distributed when sent to rights holders.
(*2)  The time required from receipt of royalties to their distributions is different depending on the type of usage.
