Distribution Results for 2025-03 Period and Fiscal 2024- Amount distributed during fiscal 2024 exceeds 140 billion, a record new high -

The Japanese Society for Rights of Authors, Composers and Publishers (JASRAC) distributed copyright royalties to rights holders including creators and music publishers on March 10, 2025. The amount distributed in the 2025-03 period was 39,260,925,886 JPY (105.3% year-on-year growth for the relevant period), which is a record new high for March distributions. (*1)

As a result, the amount distributed during fiscal 2024 (the total amount for four quarters: June, September, December 2024, and March 2025) was finalized as 142,333,982,038 JPY (105.3% year-on-year growth), the highest amount distributed in a year. It is the first time that the amount distributed exceeded 140 billion JPY. The amount mainly reflects income from collections in the second half of fiscal 2023 (October 2023 to March 2024) and the first half of 2024 (April 2024 to September 2024). (*2)

The number of works subject to distribution was 3,313,762, the highest in history. The number of rights holders subject to distribution, including distributions through music publishers, was 96,301 creators and 3,297 music publishers. Furthermore, royalties were also distributed to 430,463 creators and 52,653 music publishers through 112 foreign copyright management organizations.

Large-scale concerts Both Japanese and overseas artists held performances steadily, and the number of concerts held at large-scale venues such as domes, arenas, and stadiums increased. The amount distributed was approximately 4.99 billion JPY (142.1% year-on-year growth).
Income from abroad (performing rights) From the increase in online royalties mainly from the US and Brazil, the amount resulted in approximately 1.7 billion JPY (116.1% year-on-year growth for the relevant period).
Interactive transmissions The market for video streaming and music subscription services continued to go strong, with 53.18 billion JPY distributed (114.3% year-on-year growth). This is the first time that the amount distributed exceeded 50 billion JPY.

JASRAC will continue making efforts to contribute to the development of the music industry and music culture by bringing returns to creators and rights holders.

(*1) Administrative expenses, income taxes, etc. are deducted from the above amounts distributed when sent to rights holders.
(*2) The time required from receipt of royalties to their distributions is different depending on the type of usage.
