The Japanese Society for Rights of Authors, Composers and Publishers (JASRAC) will reduce the administrative expense rate applicable to the 2025-06 period onward from 21% to 20% for "Karaoke" in the "Performances, etc." royalty category. The applied rates for "Performances, etc." are as in the following table.

Major live concerts, etc. 12.5% 12.5%

For the "Major live concerts, etc." and "Karaoke" categories, the administrative expense rates will be reduced only for the 2025-03 period.

Our administrative expenses are deducted at certain rates from the distributed amounts before we distribute royalties to music creators and other right holders. JASRAC uses the administrative expenses for its operation. The rates for the administrative expenses are determined upon approval by the Board of Directors, which is comprised of writers, music publishers, academics, experts, etc., taking into consideration the expenses actually required for the services in each usage category. The percentage of actual operational expenses against the amount of royalties distributed is 9.6% (FY2023).

JASRAC will further promote copyright management and continue its efforts to boost work efficiency and reduce operational expenses in order to ensure that royalties paid by music users lead to new creations.
