Distribution Results for the 2023-12 Period
- Amount Distributed was 33.2 Billion JPY, 110.1% Compared to the 2022-12 Period -
On December 11, 2023, the Japanese Society for Rights of Authors, Composers and Publishers (JASRAC) distributed copyright royalties to rights holders including authors, composers, and music publishers for the 2023-12 period. The amount distributed for the relevant period was 33,201,857,226 JPY, which is 110.1% compared to the same period of the previous fiscal year and a record high for December distributions. (*1)
JASRAC distributes copyright royalties paid by music users to rights holders on a quarterly basis (March, June, September, and December). The 2023-12 distribution primarily reflects royalty income between April 2023 to September 2023. (*2)

The number of works subject to distribution was 2,428,192 works. Rights holders entitled to receive royalties, including distribution through music publishers, amount to 73,905 writers and 2,875 music publishers. Furthermore, royalties are distributed to 310,364 writers and 34,830 music publishers through 112 foreign sister societies.
JASRAC will continue to strive for the development of the music industry and music culture by returning to creators and rights holders the compensation they deserve.
(*1) When royalties are wired to right holders, deductions will be made from this amount, including administrative expenses and income tax.
(*2) Time required from receipt to distribution of royalties differs depending on the usage category.
