Distribution Results for 2020-03 Period and Fiscal 2019 Amount Distributed in Fiscal 2019
was the Largest at 117 Billion JPY,which is 103.9% Compared to 2019-03 Period

On March 25, 2020, JASRAC distributed copyright royalties to rightsowners including authors, composers and music publishers for the 2020-03 period. The amount distributed for the relevant period was 32,986,532,434 JPY, which is 92.7% compared to the same period in the previous year. (Administrative expenses, income tax etc. are deducted)

As a result, the amount distributed in fiscal 2019 (Cumulative amount for 2019-06, -09, -12 and 2020-03 distribution periods.) was finalized, which was 117,056,695,494 JPY. This is 103.9% compared to fiscal 2018 and is the highest amount in history exceeding fiscal 2008 (115,518,377,835 JPY). This distribution primarily reflects royalty income in the second half of fiscal 2018 (October 2018 to March 2019) and the first half of fiscal 2019 (April to September 2019).

<Interactive transmissions>

Due to the expansion of subscription service and online video service markets, as well as the early distribution JASRAC has made for online music services including large subscription services to distribute two periods only for the 2020-03 period, the distribution was 125.5% compared to the previous fiscal year.

<Reproduction for games>

The distribution was 143.9% compared to the previous fiscal year due to multiple hit products using JASRAC repertoire.

Royalties were distributed to 2,580,119 works in fiscal 2019. The number of rightsholders who received royalties, including distribution through music publishers, was 72,667 writers and 2,799 music publishers. In addition, royalties were distributed to 349,039 writers and 46,918 music publishers through 120 foreign sister organizations.

JASRAC will continue to strive for the development of the music industry and music culture through the distribution of remuneration back to creators and rightsholders.
