Update of the Musical Works Information Management System "KENDRIX"
- Release of the Key Visual by YUSUKE NAKAMURA -

On July 18, 2023, JASRAC updated "KENDRIX," (https://kendrix.jp/) the management system for musical works information equipped with blockchain-based proof of existence (PoE) framework and eKYC (electronic Know Your Customer) functions. In this update, JASRAC also released a key visual drawn by illustrator YUSUKE NAKAMURA.

< Comment from YUSUKE NAKAMURA >
Although the Internet do provide us with freedom and convenience, transmitters may suffer loss or have concerns in many respects. Entrusting rights to a third party might also feel uncertain and can be difficult for us to participate. KENDRIX has a vision that "the blockchain technology will enable writers to protect their rights in their works and to release their musical works to the world without anxiety." I have drawn this picture showing my empathy with this vision. This is a wonderful system that does not exist in the society of illustrators.

< Profile of YUSUKE NAKAMURA >
Born in 1978 in Hyogo Prefecture. He graduated from the Design Faculty of Osaka University of Arts and currently works as an illustrator.

He has released many illustrations, including CD jackets of ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION, Masashi Sada, and other artists, book covers of "The Night Is Short, Walk on Girl (Yoru wa Mijikashi Arukeyo Otome)" and "The After-Dinner Mysteries (Nazotoki wa Dinner no Ato de)," musical textbooks, and packages for Asada Ame, Lotte Choco Pie, and other goods. In addition, he is active in other forms of artistic expressions, including designing animation characters, producing radio programs, and writing essays.

His portfolios "Blue" and "NOW" (both published by Asukashinsha) have sold 130,000 copies so far. His illustration manual "Minna no Illustration Kyoshitsu" (by Asukashinsha), coloring books "COLOR ME" and "COLOR ME, too" (both by fukkan.com), and his latest book for the complete works on CD jackets "PLAY" (by Asukashinsha) are also selling well.

2 New Functions of KENDRIX

(1) Project Function (ID Invitation Function)
Any user (or owner) who registers their musical work information with KENDRIX can now share such information with other users. The owner can invite co-authors and performers to the registered musical work information, and invited users can also see the musical work information registered by the owner. Invited users can additionally register a sound source (or add a version) to the musical work information. When the owner submits a notice of work to JASRAC through KENDRIX, invited users can also see the contents of notice by accessing the notice of work submitted by the owner.

(Supplementary information on the project function)
- Invited users are also required to register their accounts with KENDRIX.
- To send an invitation to a user, the owner must acquire the "name ID" for KENDRIX from the user and input the musical work information that he/she wants to share.
- When an invited user receives and approves the invitation, the user can share the musical work information.
- For the next update, we will add a function to send an invitation to e-mail addresses of other users who have not registered their accounts if the owner wants to invite them.

(2) Function to delete the musical work information
The musical work information registered with KENDRIX can be deleted now.

(Supplementary information on the deletion function)
- The information will not be physically deleted but logically deleted, which means that the information can no longer be accessed by users.
- The information will be deleted not by sound source (version) but by musical work information, which means that if you delete the musical work information for which multiple sound sources are registered, all sound sources will be deleted.
- You can delete only musical work information that you have registered, which means that you cannot delete any musical work information of which you are not the owner.
- You cannot delete any musical work information for which you have submitted a notice of work to JASRAC.

See this article (KENDRIX Media), which explains the new function in detail with a screen capture.
