The Japanese Society for Rights of Authors, Composers and Publishers (JASRAC) will reduce the administrative expense rates applicable for each distribution period in fiscal 2023 (from April 2023 to March 2024) as in the following table. Royalty categories subject to reduction are "Major live concerts, etc.," "Karaoke," "Videogram exhibitions," "Pachinko machines (exhibition, performance)," and "Film exhibitions."

JASRAC's administrative expenses cover the actual costs required for copyright management operations, and their rates (notified administrative expense rates) are set in the Stipulations for Administration Trust Contract for each usage category in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Management Business of Copyright and Neighboring Rights. The actual rates applied (applied administrative expense rates) are set within the scope of notified administrative expense rates upon approval by the Board of Directors comprised of writers, music publishers, academics and experts, etc.

JASRAC will further promote copyright management and continue its efforts to boost work efficiency and reduce expenses in order to ensure that royalties paid by music users lead to new creations.
