Conclusion of Reciprocal Representation Agreement with Foreign Copyright Management Organizations (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and South Africa)

The Japanese Society for Rights of Authors, Composers and Publishers (JASRAC) concluded a representation agreement on July 1, 2020 with the following copyright management organizations.

1 Agreement with the societies of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania
JASRAC respectively concluded a reciprocal representation agreement of mechanical rights with the three Baltic societies EAU (Estonia), AKKA/LAA (Latvia) and LATGA (Lithuania).

Previously, JASRAC had concluded a reciprocal representation agreement of mechanical rights with NCB (Denmark), a copyright management organization which includes the three Baltic countries in its territory. However, as the three Baltic countries were removed from NCB's territory as of the end of June 2020, JASRAC concluded a new agreement with the three Baltic societies (Agreement of performing rights had been already concluded).

2 Agreement with the society of South Africa
JASRAC concluded a reciprocal representation agreement of mechanical rights with CAPASSO, a mechanical rights management organization in South Africa. As a result, the representation agreement of mechanical rights with SAMRO, a society of South Africa, was terminated on June 30, 2020, and only the representation agreement of performing rights will continue.

CAPASSO is a mechanical rights management organization established by SAMRO, etc. in 2014 and has received the transfer of SAMRO's repertoire.

By concluding the reciprocal representation agreements with these societies, the number of foreign societies which JASRAC has agreements with totals 125 societies (in 96 countries and 4 territories).
