Distribution Results for 2019-03 Period and Fiscal 2018
Amount Distributed in Fiscal 2018 was Second Largest at 112.6 Billion JPY

On March 25, 2019, JASRAC distributed copyright royalties to rightsowners including authors, composers and music publishers for the 2019-03 period. The amount distributed for the relevant period was 35,569,032,719 JPY, which is 107.8% compared to the same period in the previous year.

As a result, the amount distributed in fiscal 2018 was finalized, which was 112,647,692,325 JPY. This is 101.6% compared to fiscal 2017 and is the second highest amount in history following fiscal 2008 (115,518,377,835 JPY).

Distribution Results for 2019-03 Period and Fiscal 2018

Primary factors for this result are growth in categories such as interactive transmissions, which distribution was 131.0% compared to the previous fiscal year due to the expansion of subscription service and online video service markets. Distribution for the category of videograms was also 116.0% compared to the previous fiscal year due to a smash hit by a well-known artist.

Royalties were distributed to 2,492,863 works in fiscal 2018. The number of rightsholders who received royalties, including distribution through music publishers, was 72,946 writers and 2,762 music publishers. In addition, royalties were distributed to 345,546 writers and 45,451 music publishers through 119 foreign sister organizations.
