The Japanese Society for Rights of Authors, Composers and Publishers (JASRAC) has decided to amend the applied rates of its administrative expenses, which are deducted when distributing royalties to authors, composers, publishers and other rights holders, from its 2019-09 distribution, as follows.

The amendment revises the administrative expense rates for multiple royalty categories, aiming to make the rates more suitable to reality based on recent changes in the structure of royalty collection and distribution.

In particular, within "Concerts and Performances etc." as the live entertainment market continues to expand, we have newly set up a category for "Large-Scale Concerts" and have decided to lower the applied administrative expense rate from 25% to 15% for concerts etc. which meet certain conditions.

JASRAC will continue its efforts to boost administrative efficiency and reduce expenses in order to ensure that royalties by music users lead to new creation.
