On March 5, 2024, JASRAC conducted an update to the musical works information management system "KENDRIX," incorporating a proof of existence (PoE) feature utilizing blockchain technology and eKYC (electronic Know Your Customer) functionality.

■New Functions of KENDRIX

１．Similar Audio Checking Function (α-version)

Now, the similar audio checking function (α-version) of KENDRIX is available for your use. This function analyzes the audio files registered in KENDRIX using the fingerprint technology, etc. and tells you which existing audio source may have similarities to them.

The fingerprint technology is usually utilized for identifying audio that is used in broadcasting programs and streaming content. Using this technology, KENDRIX provides you with a tool to check your musical works before releasing them when, for example, you want to make sure that no audio of existing songs is unintentionally mixed in as sampling material, or that your melody does not have a close resemblance to that of an existing song. To deliberately display results of low reliability, the tool will be tuned to ensure detection accuracy and frequency that are easy to manage. This α-version is designed for usability testing to help us make functional improvements going forward.

The similar audio checking function detects two types of sound.

*The purpose of this function is to provide referential information that helps freelancing music creators confirm the originality of their songs. This function does not determine whether a work has been pirated or stolen, nor does it guarantee the originality of a work.
*This function uses the "Music Recognition" services and the "Cover Song Identification" services provided by ACRCloud. Music Recognition is a solution designed to detect usages of audio itself. Cover Song Identification is a solution designed to detect cover versions of original songs.

２．"Business" Account Newly Created

You can now choose your account type from the newly created "Business" account as well as the existing "Basic" and "Business+" accounts. Please see the following table for the characteristics of each account.

*If your identity verification was completed through eKYC before JASRAC newly created the "Business" account, your account has been automatically upgraded from "Basic" to "Business."
*The following are the two ways to upgrade your account to "Business+:"

（1）To enter into an administration trust contract with JASRAC through KENDRIX's function to apply for an online copyright trust contract
（2）To "apply for an upgrade for JASRAC members" through KENDRIX
