First Update of Management System for Musical Works Information "KENDRIX"
-Additional Functions Including Submission of Work Notifications to JASRAC-

On February 14, 2023, JASRAC released the first update for "KENDRIX" (https://kendrix.jp/), a management system for musical works information equipped with blockchain-based proof of existence (PoE) framework and eKYC functions. The updated version offers additional functions, such as the submission of work notifications to JASRAC.

■New Functions of KENDRIX

1. Function to Prepare and Submit a Work Registration (*for "Business+" accounts only)

Now, users can prepare a work registration based on the musical work information registered with KENDRIX and submit it to JASRAC online.

This function is only available to users who have entered into an administration trust contract with JASRAC through KENDRIX's function to apply for an online membership agreement (i.e., users who have upgraded their account from "Basic" to "Business+").

*In order to make this function available to JASRAC members who have entered into an administration trust contract with JASRAC without using KENDRIX's function to apply for an online membership agreement, a new function will be added at the time of the March 2023 update that will enable JASRAC members to upgrade their account from "Basic" to "Business+."

2. Function to register joint authors and arrangers to the author information of a musical work

Through this update, users can also add and register joint authors other than the users themselves to their author information (the previous version only allowed the author, that is, the user himself/herself, to be registered).

Furthermore, the roles of the author now include "arrangement" (previously, "songwriting" and "composition" only).

Please also see this article(KENDRIX Media) where a detailed guide of the new functions is available with screenshots.

1. Blockchain-based proof of existence (PoE) framework

When creators register their music (audio files) with KENDRIX, the following information will be registered on the blockchain (files in the process of production can also be registered):

●Hash value of the audio file

●Time stamp

●User information, title and version information (multiple audio files can be registered to a single piece of musical work information as their versions)

Based on the above, KENDRIX enables objective certification of when and who owned an audio file and publication of a "PoE page" displaying the information registered on the blockchain.

2. Online Membership Agreement through eKYC

KENDRIX is linked to the eKYC service that enables online verification of user identity. Users whose identity has been verified through this service can also perform online procedures to enter into a membership agreement with JASRAC.
