CISAC Announces Statement on Ukraine

On March 2, CISAC (International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers) announced the following statement on the current situation in Ukraine.

As a friend and partner, walking hand-in-hand with copyright management organizations and creators around the world, it is our sincere hope that this war is brought to an immediate end and that peace and rest are restored.

CISAC Statement on Ukraine

The CISAC global community laments the catastrophe now unfolding in Ukraine and condemns the brutal assault by Russia on freedom and human rights. We stand alongside our colleagues and partners in Ukraine who are suffering from the war instigated by the Russian Government. Their work is to support creativity, art and culture - precious qualities that enrich our lives and communities, but which are now under attack and facing terrible humanitarian consequences.

Our thoughts are with friends and creators who have been forced to flee their homes, hide in shelters and take to the streets to fight to protect their country and freedoms.

As an international organisation with members across the world, we believe that peace must prevail. We encourage in the strongest terms the path of dialogue and co-operation and insist on an end to aggression and violence.

[CISAC (International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers)]

With 232 member societies from 121 countries and territories, CISAC represents copyright management organizations in the artistic fields of music, audiovisual, drama, literature and visual arts. JASRAC joined CISAC in 1960 and is a Board member since 1980.
