Nationwide crackdown on Copyright Law violations
using file-sharing software

According to a report from the National Police Agency to the ACA, between Feb. 25 and 27, 2014, police departments in 45 prefectures across the country conducted a nationwide crackdown on violations of the Copyright Law for movies, music, animations, comics, computer games, business software, etc., using file-sharing software. 123 locations were searched, resulting in 33 arrests (as of February 28, 2014 at 4 PM).

For summaries of violations which relate to ACA's member organizations, please contact each organization shown below or refer to their websites.

This is the fifth time a nationwide crackdown on Copyright Law violations using file-sharing software has been conducted by the National Police Agency since 2009, and this exemplifies the effective and continuous law enforcement activities conducted against similar crimes.

In addition, the various member organizations of ACA take part in activities of the Consortium against Copyright Infringement via File-Sharing Software (CCIF) which sends out copyright awareness e-mails. This activity urges individual users who have made infringing content available on file-sharing software networks to delete such illegal files.

ACA will continue to collaborate closely with the related ministries and agencies, including the National Police Agency, and conduct activities with an aim to eliminate counterfeit products and protect intellectual property.
