UBC (Brazil) pledges donation to JASRAC's
Earthquake Restoration Support Fund

In support of efforts undertaken by JASRAC to aid the areas affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake and to also nurture music culture in those regions, Brazilian sister copyright management organization UBC (Uniao Brasileira de Compositores) has kindly pledged an amount equivalent to UBC's administration fee for royalties to be distributed to JASRAC. The sum will be incorporated into the "JASRAC Earthquake Restoration Support Fund."

Based on the reciprocal representation agreement concluded between UBC and JASRAC, UBC collects copyright royalties for performing rights usages of JASRAC repertoire in Brazil and distributes these royalties to JASRAC. UBC's pledge is to donate the administration fee that is normally deducted from such distributions to cover UBC's expenses in administering the JASRAC repertoire.

JASRAC expresses its profound appreciation to UBC for their heartfelt contribution.

UBC President Fernando Brant, in a warm letter to JASRAC President Mitsuo Sugawara, said;

"It is not significant if you look only at the figures, but to us it has deep meaning.... We sincerely hope that very soon the Japanese people and the whole country will feel more comfortable and recovered from this sad tragedy."
