To our friends of the international community of
sister copyright management organizations

Dear Friends,

After the earthquake and tsunamis struck Japan on March 11, we have received many warm messages of encouragement from our friends at CISAC and our sister copyright management organizations all over the world. We have also received a number of suggestions aimed toward supporting the recovery. On behalf of JASRAC, I express my sincere appreciation to you all.

It is consolation in the midst of these dark times that JASRAC's staff and their immediate family are safe. Yet, the damage wrought on the areas directly affected is enormous, and the cities and towns that were engulfed by the tsunamis are utterly devastated.

Many reconstruction initiatives are now in place, but many miles and obstacles lie ahead on the road to recovery. We expect this to take some time.

JASRAC will also not avoid being affected by this disaster. But like many of my fellow countrymen, we do not wish to remain idly troubled, and have resolved to keep moving forward towards restoration. And we are putting in motion many projects of our own aimed at contributing to the rebuilding effort in a way that only JASRAC can. We will continue to support the reconstruction through music.

Your encouragement is what supports our forward progress. I reiterate my gratitude to you, and ask for your continued support of JASRAC.

Sincerely,

Mitsuo Sugawara
President
JASRAC
