For composers / authors What follows is a general outline of requirements for any composer/author wishing to become a member of JASRAC for administration of his/her musical copyrights by JASRAC. • He/she must hold copyrights to one or more musical works which have been or are definitely to be publicly released by another party in Japan in printed or recorded form, through broadcast or performance or by similar means. • Those who do not hold Japanese citizenship must fulfill the following conditions. • He/she must have completed alien registration procedures and be resident in Japan. • The base of his/her copyright activities must be in Japan. • He/she may not be affiliated with any other musical copyright society. • He/she must agree with JASRAC's basic objectives prescribed in the JASRAC's Articles of Association. JASRAC will be entrusted with all of the copyrights which a member already has or will acquire in the future. The membership application fee for composers and authors is 26,250 yen (including consumption tax). The company must not be affiliated with any other musical copyright society. • The company must agree with JASRAC's basic objectives prescribed in the JASRAC's Articles of Association. JASRAC will be entrusted with all of the copyrights which a member already has or will acquire in the future. The membership application fee for music publishing companies is 78,750 yen (including consumption tax).
